The Videos I was talking about….
They were the ones of Mall officers hand cuffing and kicking Deaf people that were trying to defend themselves. The police officers didn’t know that they were Deaf and so the deaf men couldn’t hear the officers’ commands so ended up kicking him to get his attention.
I was MAAAD when I watched those tapes.
I’m not sure if I can find it again but it was on youtube for a good while a couple of years ago. It was on the news and everything.
I was so pissed off about the way that they officers treated Emmett. They may not have known he was deaf, but Emmett didn’t make any threatening moves. Some people can’t explain themselves without being given the opportunity, and all too often, in situations like these, they’re not given a chance.
So I say reblog this if you want to make a stand against this kind of violence!
